The Kalamazoo Poetry Festival is here this weekend to examine through poetry what’s next for the community and the world.

“From the Wreckage” will feature both nationally acclaimed and local poets for the two-day virtual event that begins 6 p.m. Friday, April 16, according to the event’s Facebook page. The event continues at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17.

Nationally acclaimed poets Patricia Smith and Danez Smith will help the audience examine how the community and world moves forward. The event will also open mic times, poetry workshops and musical guest Honeybear.
